Sprinkler Valve
A sprinkler valve is a key piece to any sprinkler system. They allow the sprinkler lines and pipes to fill with water and activate the sprinklers with water pressure. They can be as simple as hose valve that has to be manually turned on and off or they can be automatic which are opened with a solenoid.
An automatic sprinkler valve is much more complex than a manual one, but they serve the same purpose. They are often located underground enclosed in green PVC boxes that can easily be opened for repairs. Some areas require valves that prevent back flow which can be added to the line and is included in the best models.
Back flow prevention on a sprinkler valve is important. They should be installed down stream from the main water line. Most valves do not have this feature standard so it is important to remember. Back flow into the main water line can pollute the drinking water supply.
