Sprinkler Systems

Sprinkler systems are used for a wide variety of purposes irrigation being the most common. Fire sprinkler systems are also widely used in almost ever new building and many homes. These are not always charge with water however, different non-flammable chemicals are often substituted.

Most sprinkler systems are used for irrigation. They are commonly installed underground for lawns and gardens but most irrigation sprinklers are above ground to allow them to be easily moved. The largest versions have giant wheels with motors to move the pipes with very little effort by the farmer at all. Some are remote controlled from a command center in the farmers house.

Sprinkler systems can be manual or automatic. A manual system is easy to install and maintain but requires an operator to turn them on and off. Automatic versions have a timer, some have moisture sensors as well, to water the area at certain times. Flushing them of all their water is important before the first frost sets in to prevent burst pipes.
